The purpose of this site is to disseminate information and views on information technology and its utilization for communication, especially on the Internet. In particular it combines the issues of human communication with the more technical aspects.
The site contains information both in English and in Finnish, and very little in other languages. Usually the English and Finnish documents are not translations of each other but written for different purposes.
The site was originally established at www.hut.fi around 1994,
later restructured
(see
site history for explanations.)
For historical reasons, I saved a copy of my
old main page that used to be
at http://www.hut.fi/u/jkorpela/
.
My site was hosted at the Tampere University of Technology dept. of Information Technology from year 2001 to year 2017.
In September 2017, I acquired a domain of my own, jkorpela.fi, and
started setting up my site there. The intent is that previous
addresses can be mapped to new ones by
by replacing
www.cs.tut.fi/~jkorpela/
by
jkorpela.fi/
.
There was automatic mapping from the old addresses, but this was
broken in 2021.
Addresses with the www
prefix in the domain name,
i.e. with domain www.jkorpela.fi
, can also be used,
but the prefix is not needed.
